The house was built in 1921 for a silent film movie studio, Willat Studios in Culver City, to serve as its offices and dressing rooms. When the studio closed, the Spadena family moved the home to its current location in Beverly Hills, where it has been since 1934. While not a witch per se, Aleister Crowley’s name will go down in history as the “most wicked man on earth”. He began his journey into the world of magic by joining the Order of the Golden Dawn. After leaving the order, he eventually went on to establish his own religion called Thelema which still gains followers worldwide today.

I learned that even in pixel-art, horror is possible; it just depends on the creator’s mastery of atmosphere and timing. Fummy-san absolutely has that mastery and as silly as it sounds, I’ve never had so much fun dying a lot in a video game. We remade all the graphics, including map tiles and character sprites, and worked hard to enhance the atmosphere and 2D beauty in The Witch’s House.
The Witch House is called such because it is the last standing home in Salem with direct ties to the Salem Witch Trials. In fact, a witch didn’t live there but a judge named Jonathon Corwin did. Corwin was a judge during the Salem Witch Trials and it’s said he might have held secret Witch Trials within the home.
